ROBBING THE HOOD
Power to the Politicians!
Poverty to the People!!
No peace, no progress, more problems!!!
Criminals in high places, disguised as the protectors of the people; massively looting public funds. What hope does Nigeria have? The masses suffer, while the ministers slay. They said, “let the poor breath”, but they have stolen the oxygen. Wicked leaders of this generation have no empathy for their wailing people. While they’re busy stuffing their pockets, the poor masses kick buckets on daily basis. What did we do to deserve this? This is not what we desired; destitution is the negative result of corruption. While the bible opines that “those who have shall have more, while those who have a little shall lose all they have”, it refers to the politicians, the preachers, and the gullible people.
The case of corruption in Nigeria is as old as colonialism, birthed in amalgamation and baptized at Independence. Seven nations in one country. A union of unfaithful lovers that hate themselves. We know the truth, yet we don’t speak it. This marriage is a misfit. How can one explain the endless suffering of Nigerians since independence? The people think wisely but act foolishly. In a democratic dispensation, the people’s will prevails. Contrastingly, the case is different in Nigeria and most African countries. The same people that complain before elections, act confused and complicate things during elections, only to remain stuck with controversies after elections. They lack prudence.
Your voice is your vote. Your vote is your voice. Your voice cannot win where your vote failed. Nevertheless, the people should protest when their votes are stolen, for they lose their voices as well. What the people owe politicians is change. The power to preside over who presides them, is the only visible power the people possess. But power without performance is powerlessness. Of what essence is power to the people if they can’t perform properly? When the people’s performance is taken for granted, the people must protest endlessly till they get their power back. Power belongs to the people, for without the people, there’s no politician. Unfortunately, when it’s time for the people to act, religion and ethnicity sow seeds of hate and disintegration. But they all suffer together.
“Ilii alias aliud isdem de relus iudicant – They judge differently, at different times, about the same thing. Hope fails where the law fails. Without independence of the judiciary, what’s the essence of the law courts? They condemn one man for stealing breads, then commend one man who steals billions. That is corruption in high places! What hope does the common man have in a nation where the people lack common sense? None! In a country where thousands of law students graduate every year, yet the lawmakers and interpreters are lawless. They don’t serve the people, for they see the people as slaves. What shall a son learn from his wicked father, if not wickedness? In Africa, especially Nigeria, the elders have failed the youth. How can the youth be leaders of tomorrow when their grandfathers are making troubles today? Wisdom is not in age, but in act.
Pretense is punishment to the person who pretends, and the people he/she pretends to. The wicked is free only when others are weak. If you set a criminal free without consequences, he/she shall form a congregation of criminals. When courts cut corners, the citizens suffer the consequences, while the essence of the courts get eliminated. How can few persons steal public funds, destroy public properties, and still walk free? Why not put them in chains or break their legs at least? Any person that walks on his people, should never be allowed to walk out free, even if that person is the president. No human is greater than other humans. So, if a man is not humble, that man must be humiliated. Nobody is expected to rob the hood and still be cool. But these politicians rob the hood with help from gangsters whose families are also suffering in the same cruel country. Together, they rob the poor and give to the rich. They take the hopes of the less privileged and give them to prestige personalities. Thus, the rich become richer, while the poor become poorer. Ignorance is illness. For the sake of money, man turned worse than an animal. Imams and Preachers are busy preaching political propagandas. Shame!
Preachers and politicians are the same. Most of them preach what they don’t practice. If not, how can one explain the normality in this case: 88% of the congregation treks to church, but their pastors own private jets? They come to church in expensive things and preaches humility to the people. Where’s the humility in flashing luxuries? For what we know, the price of one Rolls Royce can buy seven buses and more. But instead of aiding the congregation in their means of transportation, the church collects offerings for fueling the pastor’s car. Sometimes I wonder if there’re different bibles and different narrations on the life of Jesus Christ. Christians are meant to be Christlike. There’s no verse in the bible where Jesus, his apostles, his disciples, nor his followers amassed wealth. Horses were expensive and at the same time affordable, but Jesus Christ never owned one. Now, they all claim to be men of God, but they seek more earthly things than they seek heavenly things. If the world is not your home, why build mansions in it? If prophet Mohammed was a man of the people, why then is the Imam working against the people. All should know this: fooling your own people doesn’t make you wise, you fool!
The same people that pay taxes, pay tithes, yet there’s nothing to show for them, because the politicians and preachers are parasites. They suck the people dry and leave them in sorrow. Indeed, ignorance is illness. People know their problems, but instead of finding practical solutions to them, they only pray about them. If a parent sends his/her child to school, is he/she expected to do their assessments for them? What then is the essence of the school? If God made man in his own image, why then is man overdependent on God? Of course, it’s God over everything; but you can’t expect God to do for you, what you can do for yourself. God didn’t create you to be lazy and overdependent, that’s why he gave man dominion over everything on earth. That power is self-independence for all humans. During elections, the politicians bribe the pastors and imams into campaigning for them. But after elections, when the people start suffering, the pastors and imams won’t complain about them. Tell me, who are the fools? The people! Always gullible and weak. Everyone is suffering, but nobody wants to die. It’s not by talking but tackling.
Clueless citizens in a cruel country. The people pretend, like they don’t know what to do. The play is precarious; predators plan, while preys pray. But the people must plan if they want progress, for prayers alone cannot make problems go away. It’s silly to be praying without planning. Life is not fair, but we must not fear. if you must play, pray, and plan. The politicians are also people, while not treat them like people. Be him a prophet or pagan, he is an ordinary person, that is not above punishments. All men are born equal, but race, religion, and reasoning created the differences. You’re as you reason. Your thoughts matter. Thus, if you think less of yourself, you stay less. But if you think more of yourself, you do more to become more. Pity no person that is against your progress.
Dearly Beloved, always choose peace over problem if it’s progress that you seek. But should problem come your way, don’t run away till you deal with that problem. If you run today, you will run tomorrow, but you cannot run forever. One day, you will have to face your fears, for fate is fated. Have faith in the person that created you and the person that you’re, and you shall prevail over problems. Be careful, not all that seems safe are safe. Life is good, but you should not fear death to keep it. People sleep and never wake up. If it’s your time, it is your time. If it’s not your time, none and nothing can take your life away. Hence, be brave and speak up against suffering. Protest if you must, but let it be done peacefully. Rise for your rights, for there’s no need sleeping if your rights are infringed upon. Nobody is above the law! The judges may judge wrong, but the people must protest. As it is here, so it is everywhere. The world is full of wicked people, so don’t be the weak one. In a democratic dispensation, when a judge judges wrong, that judge should be arrested and judged for judging wrongly. Lawyers can be punished by the law if they’re found wanting. Before anyone became who or what they are, they were humans. Nonetheless, choices have consequences, so you either choose wisely or wail.
